somewhere at sea by ~mikilana has some of the stylistic distortion of great illustrators like Teddy Kristiansen and Ted McKeever, while is developed clearly on its own path and has a tonal quality all its own. (Suggested by `kuschelirmel and Featured by `zeruch)

You know, I like this whole image, but I find that the part that most appeals to me is the way you've done the border :)

I like the way the colours of the lamp reflect in the figure's skin: it counteracts the cool greys of the background, but not enough to make the picture totally warm. It's a misplaced kind of decadence, the setting having a watery feel about it that reminds me of the sea - like a princess making a journey in a storm :) I want to join her!

thanks so much for the thoughts.
you know, i was drawing this, thinking that she was probably of a princess of some sort. you can still see an indefinate ankh on her upper arm from the time when i was imagining her some sort of princess from egypt. i like oldworld backstories. thanks for noticing. :heart:

its atmosphere is so ..poetic just the overall thing but it works so well because of all the finer details too.
